PK, experts, here is a weird one. (Win XP, SP2)
This morning I had no internet response from any application such as
email, usenet reader, or browser.
ipconfig /renew worked and gave me an ip address.
I tried using two different DNS servers, with no success.
On a whim, I turned on the DNS Client service. Everything started
working. Turned off the service. Everything stopped working. Turned on
the service. Everything resumed working.
The DNS Client service has been turned off for years. Why did it
become necessary today?
