Hello,
I would use the same .htaccess and .htpasswd files stored on my local
server website (xampp) on remote server too, but I have some problem
with the line codes on the .htaccess file:

AuthName "DIRECTORY PROTETTA"
AuthUserFile C:/programmi/alfa/beta/gamma/.htpasswd
AuthType Basic
Require valid-user

To use the same file on remote server I would change
AuthUserFile C:/programmi/alfa/beta/gamma/.htpasswd
just in
AuthUserFile /.htpasswd
but it does not work! :-(

Seems that AuthUserFile accepts only absolute path. But on remote server
website this path is totally different from
C:/programmi/alfa/beta/gamma/.htpasswd.
could you help me?
Do you have any solution to my problem?
Thanks in advance and excuse for my bad engligh.

Francesco
